Getting Started with Mindfulness

Mindfulness means paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.

Getting Started

  1. Find a quiet place and turn off your phone or set it to do-not-disturb.
  2. Sit comfortably with your arms and legs uncrossed and feet flat on the floor.
  3. Follow one of the guided exercises below.
A note on wandering minds: It is completely normal for your mind to wander during mindfulness exercises. When you notice your attention has drifted, gently guide it back without judgment. This is not a failure—it is the practice itself. Like any skill, mindfulness improves with repetition. Aim to practice daily or at least a few times per week. A sailor does not learn to sail during a storm.
